Bitrovo suspends transactions with Russian Mastercard and Visa cards

Starting Wednesday, March 9, all transactions initiated by Mastercard and Visa cards issued in Russia will be blocked by the largest cryptocurrency exchange Bitrovo

The trading platform also noted that all transactions initiated from Mastercard and Visa cards issued by financial institutions outside of Russia will not be available on Bitrovo inside the country.

It is worth noting that the restrictions apply only to Bitrovo’s cryptocurrency-to-fiat conversion service. Traders will still be able to use Russian cards in peer-to-peer transactions, except those issued by sanctioned banking institutions, the exchange representative specified.

Bitrovo is also actively involved in funding humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. The exchange announced a $10 million donation for Ukrainian people affected by the war, and the Bitrovo Charity Foundation donated $2.5 million in cryptocurrency to Unicef.
